Our January 20th meeting will be at Departed Soles Brewery as usual, at 7:30PM.
We’ll be discussing a lot of things, including our Brewery Bus Trip on Saturday. We’ll also be voting on the bylaws that we drafted during our November meeting, so please do your best to attend!
And don’t forget to bring a few bucks to pay for pizza.
Tickets for the Jersey City Brew Club’s 2016 Brewery Bus Trip are now on sale to the public. The trip is January 23rd. The club will be visiting Defiant Brewing, Newburgh Brewery, and Millhouse Brewpub in a day of good brews and good company. The ticket includes your bus trip and some beers and beverages on the bus.
Grab your tickets soon, space is limited!
For tickets, visit www.jcbc2016.bpt.me
Among other things, we’ll be discussing our upcoming brewery tour to the Hudson Valley. Please stop by to give your input, as we nearly have things finalized. We’ll also be discussing bylaws for the club so we can open an official bank account and hopefully move towards nonprofit status at some point.
Don’t forget to bring a few bucks if you want to have some pizza!
Registrations for the Motown Mash Homebrew Contest are now open! The contest is organized by the Morristown Area Society of Homebrewers, and is the largest in the state. Click here to register as an entrant, steward, or judge.
Registrations and Entry drop-offs accepted until October 24.
Judging is November 7th at Nicole’s Ten in Randolph, NJ.
Also, the Men of Charity Ministry at St. James in Basking Ridge is hosting their 7th annual Microbrew night and they are inviting homebrewers to serve beer this year. There is quite a lineup of local breweries that will be pouring. Any homebrewers that serve beer will get two free tickets and some other goodies as well.
The professional lineup so far includes Trap Rock, Tuckahoe, Bolero Snort, Cricket Hill, Boaks, Carton, Beach Haus, Angry Erik, Rammstein, and loads more.
If you want to serve, email Glenn: email@example.com
This month’s meeting is at Departed Soles Brewery, 150 Bay St, not at HopsScotch! We also have a guest speaker
Beer writer John Holl (All About Beer Magazine, American Craft beer Cookbook, and more) will be speaking to us during this meeting and sharing some brews. John gets beer mailed to him from all over the world and has traveled to loads of breweries around the planet. He’ll talk to us about the route he’s taken to get to this position, and he’ll be open to any questions you might have.
Also, Departed Soles doesn’t have food, so we’ll be getting some pizza delivered. Bring a few bucks to chip in if you want to eat.
Message firstname.lastname@example.org if you want directions to the location. It’s on Wayne St by Van Vorst Park.
Date, Time & Location are all set for the JCBC Hop Tasting Experiment. We’ll be messaging everyone as the date comes nearer with the address. It’s gonna be fun!
Location: Dana’s place – Wayne St, Jersey City
Date: Saturday, June 27at 3:00pm
Only JCBC Dues-Paying Members may attend! Become a member here:
Hops to taste (may vary according to availability):
Amarillo, Cascade, Citra, Simcoe, El Dorado, Galaxy, Mandarina Bavaria, Mosaic, Saaz, Strisselspalt, Tahoma
Leftover hops (since we’ll only need a few pellets of each) will be given out to attendees.
By paying your 2015 dues, you’ll be helping support the JCBC and keep our operations going. As a member, you’ll get early access and discounts to events like our bus tours and walking tours. You’ll also be able to take advantage of occasional discounts to local businesses (in the works, mostly). We’re hoping to eventually get a clubhouse with a full brewing setup as well!
Click the Buy Now button to pay your 2015 JCBC Dues. Currently, the dues will show on your statement as going to KendallAE. We will be updating it to show JerseyCityBrewClub shortly.
As a reminder, The Thirsty Quaker is offering a 15% discount to JCBC dues-paying members on pre-orders for South Jersey honey (instead of the usual 10% for the public). Click here for details.
The signup sheet for Brewnity event is open, throw yourself on there now!
As a reminder, this is happening February 22 at the Bell House. All the local brew clubs and homebrew shops will be there. Each club will have a set number of comp tickets that we’ll share. Proceeds will be going to a charity, I think City Harvest. Our club can bring as much beer as we want, but I think we’ll only give comps to people who bring beer. More info:
We’ll probably hire a van or two to drive us all to the event. If you came to last year’s NYCHG 25th anniversary party at Brooklyn Brewery, this is going to be really similar. It was a blast, and this should be a lot of fun as well!
Tickets for our brewery bus trip are now available to the public! The ticket price for non-members includes the dues for membership in the JCBC for the next year, allowing you to get access to JCBC perks!
The trip is January 17 and includes:
- Tour and tasting at Weyerbacher
- Tour, open bar, and food at Troegs
- Bus trip with beer on board
- Water and soda
