Meeting Wednesday 11/18 at Departed Soles Brewery

Among other things, we’ll be discussing our upcoming brewery tour to the Hudson Valley. Please stop by to give your input, as we nearly have things finalized. We’ll also be discussing bylaws for the club so we can open an official bank account and hopefully move towards nonprofit status at some point.

Don’t forget to bring a few bucks if you want to have some pizza!

JCBC Monthly Meeting 7/15 is at Departed Soles Brewery

This month’s meeting is at Departed Soles Brewery, 150 Bay St, not at HopsScotch! We also have a guest speaker

Beer writer John Holl (All About Beer Magazine, American Craft beer Cookbook, and more) will be speaking to us during this meeting and sharing some brews. John gets beer mailed to him from all over the world and has traveled to loads of breweries around the planet. He’ll talk to us about the route he’s taken to get to this position, and he’ll be open to any questions you might have.

Also, Departed Soles doesn’t have food, so we’ll be getting some pizza delivered. Bring a few bucks to chip in if you want to eat.

Brewnity Signups now open – JCBC brewers, please sign up!

The signup sheet for Brewnity event is open, throw yourself on there now!

As a reminder, this is happening February 22 at the Bell House. All the local brew clubs and homebrew shops will be there. Each club will have a set number of comp tickets that we’ll share. Proceeds will be going to a charity, I think City Harvest. Our club can bring as much beer as we want, but I think we’ll only give comps to people who bring beer. More info:

We’ll probably hire a van or two to drive us all to the event. If you came to last year’s NYCHG 25th anniversary party at Brooklyn Brewery, this is going to be really similar. It was a blast, and this should be a lot of fun as well!

Results of the 4th Annual JCBC Homebrew Competition

Thank you to everyone that submitted beer to the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice competitions. We had almost 40 entries to the Judge’s Choice competition this year, and 15 for the People’s Choice (along with a few other beers to share). We had a good turnout for the People’s Choice tasting (about 400 people, I think?), the first year we’ve done the contest without being part of the 4th St Arts Fest.

For everyone that submitted to Judge’s Choice, we will hold the scoresheets at The Thirsty Quaker for the next week if you would like to pick them up. After that, we will email scanned copies of any that have not been picked up.
If you’re a bit impatient, you can scroll down now and see the winners, but first I’d like to give a quick shoutout to the sponsors who gave us prizes and logistical support to make this contest what it is.
