It’s that time again…executive board elections, of course. Please drop in, have a drink and choose the leadership for another great year.
This month, we’re trying out a new meeting spot: Pet Shop Bar at 193 Newark Ave. Check out the menu at their site.
Barring a snowpocalypse, hope to see you all there.

Our club’s March meeting will be at Pet Shop bar on the corner of Jersey Ave and Newark Ave. We’re excited to have our meeting at a new spot and we think everyone will enjoy this great bar. They’ve got a good selection of craft beer and a vegetarian menu.
We are also holding elections this month, so please do your best to attend!
Additionally, the March meeting will have two Brewer Duels being judged by the club, as last month’s was postponed due to a car accident. The pineapple beer challenge will be followed by the lobster beer challenge. Yum!
The JCBC Meeting for February will be on Wednesday the 15th at 7:30…at an all new venue. We are headed to the Wurstbar at 516 Jersey Ave. Very interesting menu and a nice beer selection to check out. We’ll also be tasting and judging the next Brewer’s Duel – the secret ingredient is Pineapple! Hope to see you there.
Check it out at http://www.wurstbarjc.com/
Please RSVP today, so we get an idea of how much beer/wine/food everyone plans to bring.
Our party will be held January 21st starting at 6PM at Merseles Studios (339 Newark Ave, Jersey City). The invitation is open to the public, so please bring friends and family, or tell your neighbors that may be interested in homebrew. The club will be serving its bourbon barrel-aged stout and barrel-aged saison, as well as any drinks members bring.
For food we are doing a potluck, so if you don’t have any drinks, you can bring along something tasty.
We also plan on having some games and other activities. Hope to see you there!
And don’t forget, we will be having our January meeting at HopsScotch Bar & Grill on January 18th at 7:30PM.
This month’s meeting will be in our regular spot (HopsScotch Bar), at the regular time (Wednesday, Nov 16 at 7:30pm). We hope you can join us!
This month we’re going to start out inaugural Monthly Brewer’s Duel, where members can participate in a challenge to brew using different ingredients, styles, recipes, or techniques. The contestants will be judged in a blind taste test in later meetings, and the winners will receive gift cards and beer from The Thirsty Quaker.
We’re also going to plan our Winter party, our next Brewery Bus Trip, and Bruce should have some bottles of the Jersey City Brew Club – Departed Soles collaboration beer that won first place in the Experimental Category at Motown Mash!
JCBC’s monthly meeting for October will be held at Hopscotch bar and restaurant (286 Washington Street in scenic Jersey City). Festivities begin at 7:30 – we hope to see you there.
The JCBC is now renting its jockey box. It is a multi-tap system that can handle several kegs at once. We are asking $30 a day with a $10 cleaning fee – this is a real bargain compared to other businesses offering comparable equipment. Availability begins in mid-October.
Interested members can contact Kendall at the Thirsty Quaker:

Please join the Jersey City Brew Club as we host our annual walking tour of the homebrewers in Hoboken and Jersey City!
On this tour, we’ll enter the apartments of four of North Jersey’s finest homebrewers to display their setups, discuss their craft, and most importantly, open their stash of delicious homemade beer.
DO: Bring your thirst.
DON’T: Forget to eat a big lunch beforehand.
The tour will begin at 1pm on Saturday, June 25th at The Thirsty Quaker in Downtown Jersey City. It will conclude around 7pm, near the 2nd St Light Rail in Hoboken. To ensure the privacy of our brewers, the exact itinerary will be delivered via email to those who RSVP. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Because the law prevents us from charging for homebrew, we only ask that you pay the minimum $5 to cover the cost of your light rail tickets. However, this walking tour is a fundraiser for the club, so we suggest you choose the $30 option. You may enter any price you feel is appropriate though.
If you’re going to the National Homebrew Conference in Baltimore (June 9-11), please email jerseycitybrewclub AT gmail.com so we can coordinate. Our club will have a table at club night so we’ll be planning keg transportation, decorations, beers, and other cool stuff. If you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still space available, and it’s a really great time!
In other news, our club meetings are back at HopsScotch for the time being. We’d like to thank Departed Soles Brewery for their hospitality, but as business picks up for them we want to get out of their hair. Meet up with us in the back room at HopsScotch Bar & Grill on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm. HopsScotch has a full beer lineup and great food.
