Support the JCBC by paying your 2015 dues today!

By paying your 2015 dues, you’ll be helping support the JCBC and keep our operations going. As a member, you’ll get early access and discounts to events like our bus tours and walking tours. You’ll also be able to take advantage of occasional discounts to local businesses (in the works, mostly). We’re hoping to eventually get a clubhouse with a full brewing setup as well!

Click the Buy Now button to pay your 2015 JCBC Dues. Currently, the dues will show on your statement as going to KendallAE. We will be updating it to show JerseyCityBrewClub shortly.

As a reminder, The Thirsty Quaker is offering a 15% discount to JCBC dues-paying members on pre-orders for South Jersey honey (instead of the usual 10% for the public). Click here for details.

Brewnity Signups now open – JCBC brewers, please sign up!

The signup sheet for Brewnity event is open, throw yourself on there now!

As a reminder, this is happening February 22 at the Bell House. All the local brew clubs and homebrew shops will be there. Each club will have a set number of comp tickets that we’ll share. Proceeds will be going to a charity, I think City Harvest. Our club can bring as much beer as we want, but I think we’ll only give comps to people who bring beer. More info:

We’ll probably hire a van or two to drive us all to the event. If you came to last year’s NYCHG 25th anniversary party at Brooklyn Brewery, this is going to be really similar. It was a blast, and this should be a lot of fun as well!

Results of the 4th Annual JCBC Homebrew Competition

Thank you to everyone that submitted beer to the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice competitions. We had almost 40 entries to the Judge’s Choice competition this year, and 15 for the People’s Choice (along with a few other beers to share). We had a good turnout for the People’s Choice tasting (about 400 people, I think?), the first year we’ve done the contest without being part of the 4th St Arts Fest.

For everyone that submitted to Judge’s Choice, we will hold the scoresheets at The Thirsty Quaker for the next week if you would like to pick them up. After that, we will email scanned copies of any that have not been picked up.
If you’re a bit impatient, you can scroll down now and see the winners, but first I’d like to give a quick shoutout to the sponsors who gave us prizes and logistical support to make this contest what it is.

JCBC is now insured!

Thanks to the American Homebrewers Association, the Jersey City Brew Club is now insured! The AHA worked out a deal with West Insurance to insure homebrew clubs around the country under a group program which allows up to $1 million liability and liquor liability insurance for each instance.

The cost is only $3.50 per member – your dues at work! It’s a great price, and gives our club a bit of extra insurance should something happen at one of our events.
